Starting in November 2025, the Institute for Digital Communication Environments (IDCE) at HGK Basel will be offering several online information events on the International Master of Design in Graphic Design programme, which is offered in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The Institute Digital Communication Environments (IDCE) at HGK Basel is offering a total of four online information events between November 2025 and February 2026 on the International Master of Design in Graphic Design programme offered in collaboration with the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC).

Thursday, 19 February 2026, 3:30 pm: Zoom link

The International Master of Design (MDes) in Graphic Design is open to students who have earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, communication design, media design or a comparable field of study.

The four-semester programme is a collaboration between two outstanding research institutions, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Basel School of Design FHNW. Successful completion of this programme leads to a double degree.

The programme offered in Basel focuses in particular on the pedagogy developed in ‘Swiss Graphic Design’. This process-oriented approach teaches students the ability to create visual messages with a reflective but individual design vocabulary that takes into account the particularities of cultural settings and the complexity of today's world.

In the four current online information events, the programme directors will provide in-depth information about this exceptional study programme.
