In the bindery, students are introduced to various bookbinding methods. They are taught how to cut paper and cardboard with a guillotine cutting machine or board shears, how to produce adhesive and thread bindings and applying available finishing methods such as edge decorations, hot foil stamping or blind embossing and self-adhesive vinyl.
Producing a hardcover book or an exposed spine brochure reveals a glimpse of the immense range of binding techniques. The workshop offers many different techniques for the students to explore and experiment with, combining unusual materials and methods as per their imagination.
