The Art Institute — with gender and nature is a community constituted by artists-teachers and artists-students.

Art and design open up new perspectives for perceiving, questioning, shaping and changing social encounters. The Institute Arts and Design Education sees itself as a hybrid network that takes up diverse artistic and design-led views, develops them further and makes them effective in a variety of educational processes.

The Institute of Contemporary Design Practices (ICDP) works at the intersection of education, research, knowledge production, and design mediation. It encompasses three fields of study: Fashion Design, Industrial Design, and Interior Architecture & Scenography and offers students, researchers and staff from various disciplines a lively, creative environment to explore and mediate contemporary, reflective design practices.

Through the propagation of digital media and the concomitant democratization of communication channels, the critical approach to visual and interaction-based design has manifestly gained in importance, not least because it has fundamentally changed the significance of information and communication in society.

The Institute Experimental Design and Media Cultures (IXDM) assembles students, educators, and researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds and seeks to leverage practices of art & design for comprehensive social, political and ecological transformation.
