Around 1000 students, teachers and staff study and work at the Basel Academy of Art and Design (HGK Basel), making the institution a multifaceted learning, teaching and research community.
HGK Basel offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in five institutes, a doctoral programme in cooperation with the University of Art and Design in Linz, as well as continuing education opportunities in the fields of art, design and mediation.
A central concern is to open up individual spaces of freedom for students while at the same time fostering a critical awareness of living together in societal contexts. HGK Basel sees itself as inseparably connected to civil society and addresses its current questions and challenges.
