The current fees at the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW are based on the FHNW fee regulations:

Registration fee
The application fee (incl. aptitude assessment and enrollment) is CHF 200.-
Semester fees
The standard semester fee of CHF 750.- per semester applies to Swiss students, students who have their civil residence in Switzerland at the start of their studies, students who provide proof that their parents have their civil residence in Switzerland at the start of their studies as well as refugees of legal age and stateless persons with civil residence in Switzerland.
For students who are resident in the EU/EFTA at the start of their studies, the semester fee is CHF 1'000.-
For students who are not resident in Switzerland or in an EU/EFTA country at the start of the semester, the semester fee at the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW is CHF 1'250.-

Diploma fee
A diploma fee of CHF 300.- is payable on completion of your studies in the final semester.
Other fees
During your studies, you may incur further costs, e.g. for excursions, literature, etc.
Scholarships
We recommend that all students prepare a budget for the entire duration of their studies before beginning their program. If you find that you are unable to cover the total costs, you have the option to apply for a scholarship. Please submit your scholarship application to the canton in which you or your parents have been tax-resident during the past two years.
There are various ways to apply for scholarships – both for international students who wish to come to HGK, and for HGK students planning to study abroad. Below you will find an overview of available scholarships.
For Students from Switzerland
Eligible: Students with Swiss nationality; students with permanent residence permit (C) or residence permit (B) with employment.
Canton of Aargau
Supports individuals who cannot finance their education independently with educational grants. These grants are awarded as scholarships and/or interest-free loans.

For individuals under 40 years old in their first degree program who reside in Basel-Stadt. In addition, parental support must be unavailable or only partial. The Basel scholarship directory combines several funds for education and training.

Pestalozzi Foundation
Applicants must have grown up in a mountain region and completed compulsory schooling there. Eligible are also foreign nationals with a C permit. The definition of “mountain area” follows the agricultural zoning map of the Federal Office for Agriculture (zones I–IV and hill zones in mountain cantons). Applications must be submitted before the age of 30.

Provides one-time scholarships to students enrolled in a consecutive Master’s program at a Swiss university of applied sciences. Applicants must demonstrate above-average performance in their field and show social engagement.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships
Each year, Switzerland awards Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange. These support research cooperation with more than 180 countries. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) selects recipients. Art scholarships support interna-tional art students pursuing their first Master’s degree in Switzerland (available only for applicants from selected countries).
