Numberecpe1ECTS2.0LevelC1 / C2OverviewThe Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) is the highest-level language certificate available to foreign speakers of English and is recognized by universities and employers world-wide. The examination is at the C2 level (CEFR).
- language development across the four skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing), with special regard to vocabulary and grammar, and to the use of register (formal/colloquial).
- introduction to examination format (written exams and oral)
- explanation, analysis and practice of relevant tasks
- acquisition of specific examination skills and techniques.
Topics based on Units 1 to 6 of Kathy Gude et al., Proficiency Masterclass (Oxford: OUP, 2017). Learning objectivesUpon successful completion of the module, participants will have:
- developed their language skills in line with the requirements of the examination to a level appropriate to their stage of preparation (Unit 6 of the above)
- a knowledge of the examination format
- understood, reflected on, and practised some of the exercises involved
- partially acquired the requisite examination skills and techniques
Previous knowledge
- Entry based on placement test or successful completion of ten2. Language level C1 or above.
- Participants will often have passed the Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE) or the Business English Certificate (BEC) Higher or some similar examination.
- Can be taken before or after ecpe2 course.
