English for Engineers: Innovation, Design, Procedures, Evaluation (Technical Elective)
- research latest developments and recent innovations in technology
- learn core language and vocabulary for technical concepts in their own field and related disciplines
- practise and review grammar and vocabulary items in relation to the overlying themes of communication
- practise making short sales pitches and writing related texts (e.g. product posters and/or reports).
- English for Engineers develops the communication skills and specialist language knowledge of engineering professionals, enabling them to
- communicate more effectively with colleagues and customers e.g. explain the value of an innovation in a meeting with potential clients
- explain technical procedures and designs to non-specialists
- take the role of a representative selling or explaining a product to clients
- discuss and critically evaluate innovations in their own and other technical fields in speech and writing
- Successful completion of module ten2 or a suitable level achieved in the incoming placement test (CEFR C1/C2)
