Catering

From 25 August 2025 Ryago will operate the two gastronomic locations at HGK Basel: Café Freilager (high-rise building) and Bistro der Künste (studio building).

Ryago is locally rooted in Basel and will ensure a high-quality, sustainable and socially responsible offering:
Ryago offers a varied, seasonal and healthy cuisine that focuses on Swiss products. Vegetarian and vegan options are available every day. Meat is used consciously, reduced and in the best quality. Its operation is based on the guidelines of the Swiss Society for Nutrition. Ryago is committed to sustainable sourcing and avoiding food waste.

Menu planning

Café Freilager

  • Two full meals and a ‘Wochenhit’ for CHF 9.90 (for HGK-internal staff and students)
  • Additional snacks, salads, hot soups, drinks

Bistro der Künste

  • ‘Plate Surprise’ at CHF 6.80 (for HGK-internal staff and students)

Here food from overproduction is used. In this way, high-quality dishes are given a second purpose and valuable food is not thrown away, but find a new appreciation.

Cash, debit and credit cards, and TWINT are accepted as payment methods.
Payment with the FH Card/Secanda app is not possible.

Digital menu boards and feedback terminals are available. Regular meetings with the student council are also planned in order to specifically address the needs of students.

Ryago pursues a holistic approach to sustainability. This includes its non-profit association MALIAN, which aims to integrate and promote the integration of people into everyday working life who are restricted in their gainful employment for personal, health, social, socio-political or other reasons.
