Visual communication and graphic design have an impressive history at the HGK Basel, which is explored at the IDCE from a critical perspective with regard to creative processes, teaching, and dissemination.
The aim is to make visible the often overlooked female actors and the aesthetic diversity of this tradition, as well as the role of digital media and tools in the fundamental transformation of design practice since the 1980s. Historical research thus connects with reflection on the present and future of communication in digital environments.
