Aesthetics, that is, the fundamental artistic questions of sensory perception (aisthesis) on the one hand and of design/articulation and the semantics, ideologies, and knowledge conveyed by them on the other, is traditionally conceived from a modern human perspective.
Our focus on techno-ecological, decolonial, and queer-feminist theories and methods leads us to fundamentally rethink ways out of anthropocentric and Eurocentric approaches and to consider non-human beings as sensing, creative, and meaning-making entities. How does this influence our research methods? What narrative perspectives and modes of narration are generated? And how could a non-human or more-than-human aesthetic be formulated?

Translocal Climate Narratives: Aesthetic Strategies Beyond Solutions and Despair is an SNSF artistic research project by Uriel Orlow, Denise Bertschi, Francesca Brusa, Maëlle Cornut, and Laurence Favre exploring the climate crisis’s uneven impacts and interconnections through artistic field studies, developing narratives of resilience beyond technological solutionism and apocalyptic despair.

CAPACIDADES
CAPACIDADES (25 de Abril / 6 de Maio) is a PhD project combining cultural studies and artistic methods to explore the subjects of decolonisation processes and migration (PALOP, Portugal, Switzerland) as consequences of geopolitical trauma through an ecological and postcolonial perspective.
