Marion Fink is a lecturer for Typography, Editorial Design, and Information Design at the FHNW Basel Academy of Art and Design. She also heads the Visual Communication and Digital Spaces BA degree programme and is Deputy Head of the Institute of Digital Communication Environments (IDCE). Marion Fink studied Communication Design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Design and Visual Communication, Art and Design at the Royal College of Art in London and was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service.
After graduating, she worked for several years as a designer and art director for internationally renowned offices such as Pentagram and MetaDesign in London, Mutabor in Hamburg, and KMS Blackspace in Munich. Until 2004, she was a partner in the design studio MarX and worked as a guest lecturer at Kingston University in London and at the LCC of the London University of the Arts.
In 2004, Marion Fink was appointed professor in Basel, succeeding Wolfgang Weingart. In addition to her position at the Basel Academy of Art and Design (HGK Basel), she regularly leads workshops of international university programmes, including the Faculty of Design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, the Department of Design at NTNU in Taiwan and the CAS Visual Literacy advanced-education programme at HGK Basel. She sits on various design juries and is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Münster School of Design.
