- Know-how to be imparted (partially during the pre-course): - Definition of functions (domain and range of functions) Derivation of necessary formulae (modelling data) for functions based on given data Algebraic formulation and solution of exponential and logarithmic forms Conversion of exponential expressions into logarithmic forms and vice versa Solving systems of simultaneous linear equations using appropriate methods Formulation of systems of simultaneous linear equations Matrix operations (optional) Algebraic handling of arithmetic and geometric series and sequences Solving finance mathematics problems based on interest formulae Derivation and application of formulae of annuity, amortization and sinking fund Mathematical formulation of given data/text - Application to real life business cases and problems Know-how in algebra (partially during the pre-course): - Calculations based on exponents and logarithms Solving exponential expressions by converting them into log forms Solving of systems of simultaneous linear equations Simplification of algebraic expressions Reformulation of formulae as necessary Use of quadratic formula to solve quadratic functions Manipulation of negative and fractional exponents Algebraic handling of geometric series
