Collaboration between individuals from different countries is becoming increasingly important in our globalized world. We offer you various exchange options to prepare yourself for later working life.

Study internationally at FHNW

During your studies at FHNW, you will meet people from different countries and cultures. A degree from FHNW enhances your social and intercultural competencies and prepares you for a successful career – in Switzerland or abroad.

International degree programmes

Exchange semester

FHNW students benefit from the university’s international connections. The FHNW network as a whole includes more than 300 well-known partner universities in all five continents. FHNW students can take one or two semesters abroad at one of our partner universities. The international office at your school will help you plan your semester abroad.

You can check which degree programmes allow for a stay abroad.

International short term mobility

If you do not want or cannot stay a whole semester abroad, you can take part in international short term projects. International projects, study trips, summer and winter schools or blended intensive programmes (BIP) combine short stays abroad with an in-depth study programme and an introduction to a different language and culture.

Internships abroad

Immerse yourself in the everyday working life of a foreign country and get to know a whole different business culture. FHNW schools offer internships once you have enrolled on the relevant degree course.

Swiss-European Mobility Programme SEMP / Erasmus+

SEMP (transitional solution for Switzerland replacing Erasmus+) assists bachelor's and master's degree students who go abroad by providing financial support for studies and internships.

Take advantage of the Erasmus+ Interrail Pass ! The pass offers SEMP exchange students four or six travel days within a six-month period, making it ideal for covering the return journey for the mobility and additional travel days to discover the mobility destination within Europe.

For further information on Erasmus+/SEMP, consult the International Office at your school or see Movetia.

Scholarships abroad

As the umbrella organisation of Swiss universities, swissuniversities offers a platform with information on scholarship opportunities. You can find all the details under Scholarships to study abroad - swissuniversities.
