Please note:

  • When registering for SWITCH edu-ID, please also enter the following three non-mandatory fields: Date of birth, address, phone number.

  • We recommend that you enter the barcode of your library card in the last step of the registration process. Employees and students of FHNW can use their FH Card as a library card. External users can obtain their library card at the library information desk.

If there are changes to your address or e-mail you have to adjust them yourself in your SWITCH edu-ID account. Resetting your password can be done via SWITCH.

Written instructions on how to register can be found here: https://registration.slsp.ch/help/
Information for institutional accounts can be found here: https://registration.slsp.ch/institutional-account-help/

The personal data from your SWITCH edu-ID account is transferred to swisscovery/SLSP. The personal data is used by SLSP libraries from which you obtain media or services. Further information on data protection can be found on the SLSP website.

Loans and fees

Reserving media for pickup or ordering them from a different library can be done through the discovery platform swisscovery. Book loans are free of charge. The SLSP Courier, which delivers books from other libraries, is priced at CHF 8.- per document. The costs for delivery to FHNW libraries are covered for all FHNW members (staff and students). As a teacher in the Canton of Aargau, you can also benefit from a free SLSP courier. Use the following form to register: https://edoc.tools.fhnw.ch/

As soon as ordered items are ready for collection, you will receive an e-mail inviting you to collect them. The loan period for an item depends on the type of item and can be viewed in your account. In most cases it is either 28 or 14 days. The loan period is automatically renewed if no one else has reserved the item. A maximum of five renewals are possible.

After the loan period has expired, you will receive a free reminder by e-mail. Items can be returned to the holding library or the collection library. Alternatively, borrowed media can be returned by post to the holding library. If items are not returned on time, fines will apply.

If you have lost or damaged a borrowed document, please contact the library where you borrowed the document immediately. The owning library will inform you about the next steps.
