Field of Activity

Jinsu Ahn teaches Typography, Book Design, and Conceptualization in the BA and MA degree programmes at the Institute Digital Communication Environments (IDCE). He is also in charge of the BA proofs of performance and the next-generation exhibition of the institute.

Biography

Jinsu Ahn has been a lecturer in the BA and MA programmes at the Institute Digital Communication Environments (IDCE) at the FHNW Basel Academy of Art and Design (HGK) since 2014. He has been teaching Typography, Book Design, and Conceptualisation since 2011. 
Before graduating with the UIC/HGK International Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design, he completed the FH diploma specializing in Typography at HGK Basel and the BA in Visual Communication Design at Kyoungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea. 
He has successfully completed various design projects, including a research project to develop a public design strategy in Daegu City, a documentation project for the Novartis Campus and the development of a visual identity for the Upper Rhine Region – Switzerland, France, and Germany. He has also translated Jan Tschichold's books Typographische Gestaltung  and Ausgewählte Aufsätze über Fragen der Gestalt des Buches und der Typographie as well as Emil Ruder's work Typographie into Korean. Jinsu Ahn regularly publishes in international specialist journals on the subject of typography and heads workshops in the CAS Visual Literacy advanced-education programme of HGK Basel.
