Kambiz Shafei is a lecturer in the areas of photography and augmented/virtual reality. He mentors BA- and MA-thesis projects. Next to teaching, he organizes some of the lecture series of the institute IDCE.
Biography
Kambiz Shafei is a photographer, designer and researcher based in Basel. After studying computer sciences in Iran, he studied visual communication at HGK Basel where he is a lecturer for photography today. In 2010 he founded his studio in Basel. Studio Shafei works in different fields of visual communication, collaborating closely with cultural institutions, artists and architects. Shafei’s photography and research focuses on architectonic material presences in images. 2024 he received his doctorate from the Kunstuniversität Linz for his practice-based project titled “New Material Presences in Photography: How Images and Architecture Construct and Deconstruct One Another”.
