Admission, Fees and Regulations

All relevant information on the application and admission regulations, tuition fees, regulations and appeals.

Application and admission

The application and admission process differs according to school and degree programme. You can find more information on the sites of the relevant degree programme.

Tuition fees

The tuition fees at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) are CHF 750. These tuition fees apply to all students who have their place of residence in Switzerland. 

For students who have their place of residence in EU/EFTA countries, the tuition fees are CHF 1 000. For students who have their place of residence outside of Switzerland or the EU/EFTA, the FHNW schools set the tuition fees.

The registration fee is CHF 200.

The diploma fee is CHF 300.

Exchange students in the ERASMUS programme pay their tuition fees to the school they are enrolled at.

Each School has its own study and examination regulations. The schools may issue further decrees to specify the general regulations and issue additional regulations.

Appeals

Rulings by the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) are reviewed in an internal appeal process and can be challenged with the FHNW Appeals Commission after completion of the appeal process.
