Lecturer in UX/UI Design

Field of Activity

Thomas Bircher teaches the modules User Experience (UX) and User Interface Design (UI) in all IDCE degree programmes. Building on the UX/UI Basics module, various aspects of screen interaction and design are addressed in-depth in special modules.

Biography

Thomas Bircher is a UX designer and programmer. He works as a lecturer at the Basel University of Applied Sciences and Arts FHNW and the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences OST in Rapperswil. As co-founder of the graphic-design office Claudiabasel, he is responsible for the conceptionalization, design, and programming of numerous websites, online applications, and information systems for commercial and cultural institutions. In his work and teaching, Thomas Bircher analyzes the tension between aesthetics and usability. He develops tools and interfaces with which new forms of interaction and online publication can be trialled.
