The FHNW Library has agreements with various publishers, specifying the conditions for the use of licensed content in the context of AI.
Use of licensed content in generative AI tools
The use of licensed e-resources or individual parts thereof in combination with artifical intelligence technologies, as well as the transfer to third parties, is prohibited by contract in many cases. Third parties also includes external platforms, in particular ChatGPT, DeepL or other AI platforms on which the storage and future use is determined by the third parties.
The use of licensed content in context of AI is contractually regulated with the following publishers:

Use of Open Access content in generative AI tools
Open access full texts published under a CC-BY license can generally be used without restriction with AI tools. This license allows the use, distribution, and modification of the content, provided that the original authors and the source are correctly cited. However, it is important to check the specific licensing terms of each open access article, as there are different types of Creative Commons licenses that grant different usage rights.
