FHNW Integral

Integral comprises several pre-college and pre-studies offerings of selected FHNW schools. The programmes provide language and subject training to facilitate the access to a bachelor’s programme or a re-qualification in Switzerland. Depending on the subject the programmes include German language training, subject modules, coaching and mentoring as well as internships.

Integral is primarily for refugees and migrants with a permit of the categories F, B, S or C. The offerings are open for persons who want to receive a higher education or want to use their foreign qualifications and diplomas in Switzerland.

The requirements for enrollment depend on the school and subject area. Usually needed are: a Swiss Matura or equivalent, sufficient German skills (depending on the programme from level A1, B1 or B2), motivation for a degree programme, secured funding (scholarship or own funding).

The fees vary according to offering and range between CHF 8 000 and 15 000. Generally, cantonal migration offices, social services or responsible authorities check before application whether the programme is helpful. When the authorities approve, cantons, communes or other institutions usually cover the costs wholly or partially. It is advisable to contact the responsible authority or immigration office at an early stage. In some cases it is also possible to pay the fees personally.

Generally the following deadlines apply: Depending on the programme deadlines are between April and June for a start in the autumn term. Before an application, funding and eligibility need to be checked. Therefore, we advise to contact the integration office at an early stage.
