Four new partner universities for the HLS

The HLS network is constantly growing; here is an overview of our newest partners:

Università di Bologna

Università di Bologna (UNIBO) is the oldest university in Europe and the third largest in Italy. Every year, several thousand international students benefit from UNIBO's wide range of courses, and many Master's modules are taught in English. Thanks to the cooperation with Prof. Fabio Fava from UNIBO (visiting professor at the HLS), an exchange programme for Master’s students and staff in the field of environmental sciences has been agreed.

Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto

ISEP has been a centre for studies and research since 1852 and the institute is part of the Instituto Politécnico do Porto. It offers a wide range of programmes in engineering subjects and is one of the top technical universities in Portugal. More than 6000 Portuguese and foreign students study at ISEP.

Prof. Dr. Julia Rausenberger, lecturer in mathematics at the HLS, initiated the contact to ISEP and cooperates in the field of mathematics teaching strategies.

Hochschule Anhalt

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is one of the most research-centred universities in Germany. With 77 degree programmes, it offers a wide range of courses, including in life sciences, and its focus on practical relevance is just one of the reasons why it’s so attractive for its 7800 students.

Prof. Frank Pude's stay at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (see report in this newsletter) established the HLS connection. In addition to staff exchanges, student exchanges in the BSc and MSc programmes are also promoted.

Universität Koblenz-Landau

Almost 18,000 students study at the two campuses of the University of Koblenz-Landau, which also offers an interesting range of modules and research in the field of environmental science. Lars Friedhoff, PhD student in applied mathematics, is currently writing his doctoral thesis at the HLS in cooperation with the university.
