CAS Diagnostica

Competence upgrade for application of ocular diagnostic drugs

With the introduction of the new health law GesBG on February 1, 2020, optometrists with the diploma Bachelor of Science in Optometry FHNW will receive extended professional competences. The competences also include the use of diagnostic drugs during eye examinations.

Goal of the CAS

This course offers you the possibility of registration for the Bachelor of Science in Optometry FHNW in the National Register of Healthcare Professions (Nareg).

We have put together a tailor-made program for you; an electronic self-study platform provides you with the theoretical basics. At the FHNW Olten you will meet with lecturers and colleagues for workshops, knowledge exchange and case discussions for practical experience. The workshops in diagnostics, ocular pathologies, pediatric optometry and case reports give you the chance of practical training to expand your skills, which you can implement and integrate directly into your own working practices.

Target Group

The upgrade is exclusively offered to graduates of the former SHFA/IFAO (Schweizerische Höhere Fachschule für Augenoptik/Institut für Augenoptik und Optometrie) with a proven additional education including Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, MAS Master of Advanced Studies or OD Doctor of Optometry.

Colleagues with other educational backgrounds please contact the authorities (Swiss Red Cross) directly for clarification.

If you already have a Bachelor of Science in Optometry FHNW or a BSc equivalent, you can book the CAS Diagnostica for personal continuing education.
