Exploring Opportunities and Potentials in Music Mediation - Axel Petri-Preis

Music mediation is a cultural practice that aims to establish diverse relationships between people and musics. In his presentation, Axel Petri-Preis (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna), will give insights into ideas, formats and contexts of music mediation. He will illustrate how this practice holds relevance for emerging musicians and music educators, shedding light on its profound impact on enhancing the concert experience for audiences.         

Axel Petri-Preis, PhD, is a researcher and lecturer at the mdw-University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna specializing in music mediation. He is the author of the monograph Musikvermittlung lernen (transcript, 2022) and co-editor of the anthology Tuning up! The Innovative Potential of Musikvermittlung (transcript, 2022). He recently co-edited the first comprehensive handbook in this field, titled Handbuch Musikvermittlung, alongside Johannes Voit.
