Overview Writing for Engineers is a blended learning course that introduces students to the various types of documents that engineers produce, and to their particular differences. The course covers largely the written specifics of engineering documentation.
During the course students look at these different types of documentation and decide which forms most specifically interest them.
The course also looks at aspects such as style guides, ethics, noise in documentation writing, grammar, vocabulary and other idiosyncrasies, such as terminology and translation.
Learning objectives Upon successful completion of the module, participants:

  • can write a specific type of technical document conforming to a variety of technical concepts including style, and taking into account various ethical considerations
  • are aware of translational issues concerning vocabulary in particular terminology
  • are aware of cultural issues concerning technical documentation.
Previous knowledge Entry based on placement test or successful completion of e4/ten2. Language level C1 or above.
